Amanda Smythe

What began as a moving volunteer experience led me to pursue a Master of Public Administration, focusing in nonprofit management. With almost a decade of nonprofit experience, I have worked in a number of leadership positions for a variety of causes, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA/MoMA PS1), Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) and now Causewave Community Partners (former the Ad Council of Rochester).

After three years in New York City, I relocated back to Rochester and co-founded Abode, a vintage furniture and home décor shop in the South Wedge, while moonlighting as home editor for (585) Magazine before returning to nonprofit in a freelance capacity. While my expertise in nonprofit strategy runs the gamut, my focus now leans toward marketing and communications.

Industry experience: Nonprofit (international aid, arts & culture, homelessness, breast cancer, women's health), Health Care, Home/Interior Design/DIY, Outdoor/Sporting Goods (snowboard, skateboarding, surfing) and Consumer Retail.
