Gallery Director

My name is Melissa Butcher. I am a motivated event and public relations professional experienced in large-scale, highly visible branded events. I am seeking a challenging event management position that fosters mutual growth. Enclosed please find my resume for your review.
At my current position, I serve as Gallery Director at DAX Gallery. My responsibilities include sourcing and securing contemporary artists, showcasing different artists for an opening reception every 6 weeks. Between exhibitions I am responsible for booking the gallery as a venue space for private and corporate events. In addition, I manage all staff, marketing, press and publication outreach and all accounting. 
Prior to this position, I have worked in the corporate arena as an Operations Manager for a local Destination Management Company, AEG Los Angeles as a part time Event Assistant, Jack Morton Worldwide as a freelance Meeting and Event Coordinator and for Coastal Luxury Management for the Pebble Beach and the Los Angeles Food and Wine Festivals. 
The high profile events I had the opportunity to produce for each of these companies strengthened my event management skills including program design, production and logistics, collateral development and vendor management. I have also worked for a number of pharmaceutical companies on a freelance basis as an Event Planner, further honing my skills.

DAX Gallery is a 4,500 square foot, contemporary fine art gallery, showcasing a multitude of fine urban art. Located in one of Orange County's hippest enclaves, Costa Mesa's Lab Anti-Mall & Camp District. Founder Alex Amador aspires to introduce a taste of the street art movement that pervades cultural neighborhood of SF, LA and NY to an entirely new audience. The gallery hosts group art shows every month, as well as a multitude of corporate and private events.
