Highly motivated and adaptable womenswear designer with proven track record designing for major high street brands, online retailers and celebrity collections such as ASOS, River Island and Millie Mackintosh, with various press coverage in LOOK and Cosmopolitan UK magazines. 

With 6 years design experience in a range of product areas using a variety of fabric bases. Extensive travel experience and quick to develop within the role to gain more responsibility with great organisation and determination. 

A maternity cover role with the opportunity to design a wide range of products, including beachwear, nightwear, casual and evening wear, accessories and home wear. Customer base was at a varied market level with ASOS, River Island, Mint Velvet, Hobbs, Jaeger and Jacques Vert among my customers. Manufacturing out of India multiple trips to Delhi for factory visits and customer meetings were arranged with two trips to Berlin with colleagues for research. Responsible for all aspects of design, from research, catwalk trend analysis and new season customer meetings, through to design, sampling and re-working of prints for screen print manufacture, with daily communication with factories, customers and our production department on current sales. 

Womenswear Designer

Progressing from Assistant Designer to Designer, this role enabled me to develop my design and presentation skills with a different customer base and my leadership skills to delegate to two assistants under me. Manufacturing out of India and China, using a range of fabric bases including woven, jersey, PU and suedette, designing casual and evening wear for high street and online retailers such as ASOS, Very, River Island, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins and USC. Also given responsibility of the celebrity accounts for Millie Mackintosh and Amy Childs, which saw a number of my designs get press in national magazines such as LOOK and Cosmopolitan UK. This position included travel to Hong Kong and Paris for trade shows as well as Madrid for research. 

The only assistant to the soft wovens designer, my main responsibilities included trend research and analysis as well as creating flat CAD drawings and technical packs. After the senior designer left her role with no replacement I took on more responsibility to hold customer meetings and design the seasons collections, ensuring the critical path was followed and ensuring the smooth running of this department. This position included travel to Delhi and Mumbai to visit factories, visit mills to fabric source and hold customer meetings. 


Assistant Softs Designer

Assisting with Womens outerwear and tailoring departments. My main responsibilities included trend research and analysis, preparing presentations, general errands, fabric sourcing, flat CAD drawings, technical specs and hand sewing. A highlight in this role was being involved in the production of the 2012 London Olympics purple dresses worn at the medal presentations. 

Freelance Assistant Designer

This internship was twice extended to last a full year. In this position I worked with almost every womenswear department including casual jersey, casual woven, casual outerwear, formal wear, knitwear, Autograph collection, Classic collection and Limited Collection. Working my way up throughout the year from researching, making presentation boards and general errands to making technical spec sheets and designing my own products.
