Hello there, My name is Melanie, I am a graphic designer slash illustrator slash artist slash craft maker slash...I think you get it, I'm the creative type!A bit about me, personally, via my favorite things are: coffee, vegetarian food, healthy living, beauty products, cooking, the beach, audio books, my Shiba Inu (dog), crafting, diy projects, visiting new places, thrift store shopping, fashion, art, meditation, adventure and my family.After college I spent 5 years at a company called ZanHeadgear/Moteng, where I became the creative manager. They manufactured everything; skateboards, toothbrushes, knives, military gear, motorcycle apparel, I could go on and on, but I think you get the picture. I had my hands full and I gained priceless experience in so many areas of design and in so many industries. I loved being able to work on multiple projects, big and small, with different aesthetic and demographic. Here is where I fine tuned two of my most important skills; illustration and page layout. I have worked at a few companies since, including going back to ZanHeadgear full time last year for a bit. I spent some time in a print shop, and 3d film conversion company, before turning freelance full time.I have come to find that I love bright fun colorful girly folky bohemian style illustration and design. I am passionate about good design and helping people to solve their design challenges. I pride myself on being a versatile and well rounded designer that can interpret other peoples visions into a successful design. I am currently a freelance graphic designer and illustrator. I am a one woman operation, offering my clients help with projects from start to finish, art direction, consultation,
sourcing vendors, and basically whatever they need. Some of my clients are, The Oceanside Museum of Art, Glyder Apparel, The Beauty Lounge Carlsbad, Zan Headgear, and The Hill Street Country Club Art Gallery.

Back to my roots at Zan Headgear (where I worked previously in 04-08) my role changed and  I was mostly focused on design, brand development, and marketing. I created original art and  illustrations for apparel with multiple printing methods, created layout and production art for  three annual catalogs, worked with a team to promote and market the brands through social  media. I meet a range of production needs including, editing and taking photos, creating tech  packs, QC samples from China, working with Chinese printers, packaging catalog files, and  working with pattern makers to develop new product.

Senior Graphic Designer

Legend 3D is a company that specializes in 3D film conversion. My role as production  coordinator made me responsible for creating schedules for over 30 artists, tracking,  assigning, and monitoring their workload. We worked on very tight deadlines, with constant  fluctuating circumstances. I worked with other creative departments, pipeline development,  and programming to create the most efficient work flow possible.

858 Graphics is a large format printer that offers custom graphic design services to their  customers. I worked with walk-in clients to create designs for banners, trade show graphics,  vinyl banners, vehicle wrap graphics, logos, business cards, stickers, and promotional  materials. I was responsible for pre-flight checking and pre-press set up on all incoming print  files sent in by customers.

Moteng & Zan contained four companies, and countless house brands under one roof. I worked on a diverse range of projects with multiple deadlines. Some of the companies manufactured; knifes & cutlery, skateboards, dental products, motorcycle apparel, tactical gear, and scuba flashlights. We created packaging, advertisements, product catalogs, trade show graphics and photography. I managed the design staff, oversaw the priorities, assigned and monitored the workload, created web graphics, created graphics & art for products and provided art direction.
