My name is Christian Brennan and after college in 2007 I worked in the marketing department with Safeway as a buyer. I would work directly with my vendors to implement promotional strategies to increase sales in new product while systematically developing strategies to reduce old inventory. This experience was valuable for developing the skills in cross functional partnerships, working with vendors to develop marketing strategies, and was applied to a business I had started on the side. Within 2 years of starting my clothing brand I had taken a small startup into the top tiers of the street/skate wear industry. I used my design skills to create the new graphics and experience with Safeway to work with various vendors in production and manufacturing. This was very valuable in gaining the knowledge to manage every step of the process, from idea to physical product. This ranged from the creation of my designs, to production, working with the factories, merchandising and selling the product. In addition I headed up our marketing and advertising with bi-annual tradeshows. This included marketing the brand to vendors via email, social media, and print. Establishing creative new ways to bring buyers to our booth with unique product packaging, specially designed promotional goods, POP displays and planned events. This experience strengthened my portfolio with the tools to manage multiple employees, cross functional relationships, and creative directing. In doing my business I was offered an opportunity when the economy slowed to work with Gap and gain a solid financial background in the fashion industry. Working as the catalog planner for Tops helped increase my knowledge with forward facing customer retention, and sales trends based on geography, mobile preferences, etc. I work directly with every department in Athleta to determine the needed product for upcoming seasons while determining in season strategies based on customer sales trends. This experience over the last 10 years has left me with a very broad and well rounded tool belt that I would like to add to an established or growing brand.
