Abbey Canning


A 2013 graduate of Boston College, I currently work for the Chicago Sports Commission in Executive Operations and Business Development. CSC is focused on recruiting high-profile, major sporting events to Chicago, aspiring to be the premier US destination for sports events. Today, just three years since CSC's inception, the organization has been awarded 48 events collectively, representing 450,000+ room nights. Prior to joining CSC, I worked in Sports Marketing Operations for Ticketmaster, where I lead daily implementation and coordination of marketing activities, requests and communications for Ticketmaster sports clients. Prior to Ticketmaster, I worked as a Corporate Marketing intern for Aon plc. I worked closely with the Sponsorship team on the Manchester United, NFL UK and Chicago Cubs partnerships, with the PR team on analyzing and monitoring Aon's presence in numerous media outlets and with the Internal Communications team on Aon's internal newsletter, which was circulated to over 66,000 employees. An article I wrote for the newsletter was the third most popular article of all time. While at Boston College, I interned with CASTA Paddle Surf Apparel in Social Media and worked with the BC Football Team for three years as a Student Ambassador. My goal is to work in the action sports industry in a communications or marketing capacity. I'm a hard worker with strong writing skills who thrives on a strong team working environment.
