Lead Designer - Fire & Safety and Import Market

Lead designer for a custom industrial manufacturer overseeing the designing, sampling and quoting aspects of all Fire & Safety and Import markets. Typical products are soft goods that are sewn, sealed and/or RF welded for a various end uses including but not limited to safety lumbar pads, communications systems cases, military equipment pouches & aviation oxygen bags.  Leading the Import market with support to our overseas partners in development by creating sketches, presentations and/or samples to be quoted and ultimately produced within their own facility.

Manage project schedules and operates within specific deadlines and requirements. 
Originates and/or develops designs for products relating to defined customer needs from various starting points - conceptual, based off customer print or from customer/commercial sample. 
Analyzes various design requirements and recommends possible solutions or alternate constructions. 
Set production operations & standards to provide costing information to sales. 
Build Bill of Materials with all essential information to produce a quality product per customer specification.
Assists with the set up of prototype equipment and uses experimental materials to test theories developed. 
Maintains internal contact with production personal regarding ideas, drawings and products as well as external contact with customers and vendors in the development of designs, to resolve problems and to provide prototypes.
