Barbara Odanaka

I am a former staff sports reporter/columnist for the Los Angeles Times and still freelance for the Times (skateboard stories mostly). As an author, I've been successful at self-promotion, having been on Good Morning America (twice), NPR (twice), The Early Show, CNN, BBC Radio and many more.

I am the founder/president of the nonprofit Skateboard Moms & Sisters of Shred, which hosts the annual charity event, the Mighty Mama Skate O Rama. I also put together Shred With The Legends, which raises money for children rescued from human trafficking in Orange Co., Calif. Past participants include hall of famers Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain, Christian Hosoi, Steve Caballero, Steve Olson and many other skate stars.
