Product Development Engineer, Senior

Experienced engineer in consumer product. Developed product in from concept to production in cycling, action sports and fashion industries. I've worked to develop products that will be manufactured in China, Taiwan, Italy and the USA. I am sensitive to the manufacturing requirements in various industries and regions. I have experience working in small, medium and large companies, and am adaptable to their various workflows, and I can happily flex between all required styles. My role at Star Trac sat somewhere between a mechanical design engineer, sustaining engineer and product developer. In general, I would design, build, develop and implement solutions to various mechanical problems. I would be given a brief description of the problem and warranty data. I would need to be able to learn the product very quickly. From there, I would have to diagnose the problem, and decide on the best path forward. Sometimes it would only be a field retrofit, sometimes it could only be implemented in new products, and sometimes it would be both a running change and a temporary retrofit. It was my job to justify what path the company would take with upper/VP level management. I would then build my designs using a range of equipment including but not limited to vertical hybrid CNC mills, lathes, welders, grinders, band saws, etc. I would then generally test with programmable air piston systems. After this, I would create 2D technical drawings, create ECRs and interface with the 3000 person factory in China to implement the designs.

For the majority of the time there, I was the only engineer working under the quality VP. I generally worked independently, but would constantly need to interface with the new product engineering team and the Executive VP of Engineering to make sure our efforts were not conflicting

Mechanical Engineer II

Managed design, engineering, testing and development of multiple types of mountain bike components. Includes stems, seatposts, pedals, wheels, adjustable seatpost and co2 related products. Work heavily with with Taiwan and China factories. Work very closely internally educating purchasing, marketing and sales staff on technical aspects of all products.
