Principal

A veteran with broad experience in the outdoors industry spanning over a decade; with roles running the spectrum from Sales Manager down to Retail Sales Associate.  Last 10 years have been spent as an independent sales representative and brand manager under two different agencies. Experience in Lifestyle, Outdoor, Ski, and Bike channels has Wild Onion Outdoors well-rounded as a sales agency.

We provide social media and marketing services for our retailers as well, with an associate skilled in Adobe Creative products and an understanding of the challenges in managing social media for small businesses.

Founder and owner of Wild Onion Outdoors, an independent sales and marketing representative agency in the Upper Midwest.  Primary responsibilities include Brand Management, Account Management, B2B Sales, Visual Merchandising, Sales Training and other outside sales related titles and duties.  Marketing responsibilities include educating and informing customers and their sales staff about brand marketing objectives and how they relate to the customer's business, utilizing social media to assist in spreading a brand's message, and supporting a brand at events/festivals as necessary.

Brands I have worked with: Patagonia Footwear, Klean Kanteen, Atlas Snowshoe Co., Green Guru Gear, Cushe Footwear, Dynafit, Salewa, Wild Country, Grand Trunk, and Sport Obermeyer.

Began as Field Representative, managed all Dealer visits across multiple brands, provided support at previews, trade shows, events, and filled in for Brand Managers where needed.  Quickly moved into more Brand Management roles as company transitioned; added prospecting, account servicing and sales functions to the same Field responsibilities.  Ended my time with Pemba as a Brand Manager for several brands, in addition to Field and Account duties.

Brands worked with: Mountain Hardwear, Montrail, Petzl, Sea To Summit, Adventure Medical Kits, LEKI, Atlas Snowshoe Co, Patagonia Footwear, and Klean Kanteen.

Representative

Planned and implemented sales strategy across multiple channels.  Provided service and warranty support.
Managed dock-to-door logistics and addressed challenges of bringing product to distant retailer outlets.
Made product deliveries in person.

Brand representative for United States (East of Mississippi River), Germany, and UK.
Conducted on-water product demos, trained sales associates, managed relationships with key influencers within territories.

Sales Manager

Managed daily store operations; scheduling, registers, Receiving, customer service, sales staff training, footwear "guru", merchandising.  Also placed reorders as necessary, planned footwear and climbing departments, assisted with paddlesports buy.

Assistant Manager/Buyer

Gave product clinics, provided sales event support, managed sample inventory, and functioned as brand evangelist for Big Agnes, Granite Gear, Snow Peak, ACR Electronics, and 180s.

Technical Representative

Showed up habitually late, pestered buyers to add products, harassed representatives giving clinics (playing "Stump The Rep"), goofed off, always had a "demoed" kayak on my car, manipulated the schedule to maximize vacation days...I had a very charitable and understanding set of managers.

Defaulted into lead roles in receiving (other employee took extended leave), footwear, climbing, and paddling departments.  Fitted shoes, ski boots, harnesses, backpacks, etc.  Assembled displays, checked in product, merchandised, re-merchandised, won [almost] every single sales contest given to staff, became the go-to associate for difficult sales in each department.
