I started my work experience cleaning dog runs at a kennel in my hometown. From there, I advanced to brewing coffee and serving food at various locations. My freshman year of college, I decided to apply to be a resident assistant, giving me the responsibility of being a leader and mentor to the hundreds of new students starting the following year. It was a very rewarding year of growing and learning, and being able to mentor young girls and boys as they transition into life in the real world. Later, I went back to my coffee making days and started working at Starbucks. While there, I earned the responsibility of store set-up and take-down, working 40 hours a week. I was also responsible for training new employees to be able to handle the fast-paced environment. An opportunity to start my career in the business world was extended to me, I was offered a job as a buyer at a small aerospace parts distributor. Working there has taught me a lot about working in corporate America. I've learned the significance of vendor relations and working to negotiate for better prices. Trying to find the best price to match our customer needs. It's hard work that is very rewarding. Professionally, I would like to continue my career as a buyer. I want to be able to grow my skills and knowledge when it comes to purchasing. Along with taking my specialties and sharing them with new companies.
