As a child I wished I'd one day have a job that allowed me to write the advertisements on I saw on TV. My youth was spent outside; surfing, hiking, camping, skating, skiing, you name it. TV wasn't a huge part of my life, but the creativity of the commercials I saw captured my imagination. In my school years, I'd sketch mountains and waves and draw the logos of my favourite brands in the pages of my text books; The North Face, Oakley, Swatch, Quicksilver, Billabong, and so on. Sometimes you can't see the path you're blazing until you look back. These were my initial guiding steps.
Now, as a professional marketer, I balance a skill set that ranges from the creative and imaginative to the results-focused, analytical and process driven. I am focused on developing strategy that builds equity in brands, understanding and giving respect to the consumer, and effectively utilising the myriad of marketing tools and tactics available today to engage with a brand's community in meaningful and authentic ways.
I enjoy in depth discussions about marketing strategy and putting ideas into practice. The most rewarding aspects of my current role as Brand Marketing Manager for The North Face in Australia and New Zealand are developing an outdoor community, fostering the spirit of exploration, and driving continued growth of the brand.
