I grew up riding tow ropes at Perfect North Slopes in Indiana and hanging around the local skateshop, Blacklist. At age 16, I started my own t-shirt company and made thousands of dollars selling t-shirts out of my locker. In 2006, I obtained an academic scholarship to attend the University of Northern Colorado. I moved to Greeley, Colorado to further pursue my love for snowboarding and the industry it created. After quickly finding a lack of community for the snow lovers like myself, I founded the Ski & Snowboard Club at UNC. After quickly becoming the largest club on campus, I found myself managing multiple individuals and over a $10,000 budget.
In 2009 (Junior Year at UNC), I opened the Colorado Flagship location of Blacklist, serving the local snowboard and skateboard community. 100% owned and operated by myself and a few key employees, who have now gone until to large roles with Skullcandy and Burton Snowboards. I grew the store to quickly become profitable and serve as a regional powerhouse, collaborating with brands like HUF, Vans and New Era. (I finished school in 2010 with a 3.0 GPA, by the way). After operating for 5 years, I successfully sold the store to a Greeley local and the store operates under a new name today.
After working events for various brands on the side, I took an Outside Sales position with a software company called, companyBE. Last Summer, I visited over 150 stores nationwide to help the core of our industry become more efficient and ultimately more profitable. I closed some deals while I was at it. Most recently, I joined forces with Snowboard brand, United Shapes, as the US Director of Sales.
