Director of Economic Development

Recruited to direct all business development efforts for a city of 68,000 near Seattle. Responsible for the retention and growth of existing businesses and the recruitment of new ones. Managed strategic real-estate acquisitions, redevelopment of an historic downtown area and several major projects focused primarily upon new retail development in the City. 

•	Attracted/developed 4,322 new jobs between 2006 and 2008.  
•	Successfully attracted five national retailers to Auburn, expanding tax revenues by over $4 million.
•	Wrote and managed several successful grants worth more than $4 million.
•	Led downtown redevelopment efforts and spearheaded Auburn’s first Farmer’s Market.
•	Managed inter-governmental relations for the City on all economic development issues.

Economic Development Manager

Represented the British government in trade development and commercial affairs with additional responsibility for developing U.S. investment into the UK. Used my international business experience to assist UK firms with market entry, joint ventures and business development. 
 
Successfully generated over $62 million worth of bilateral trade over six years. Played key role in developing the NW market for UK firms and the UK/EU market for local firms. 
Created highly specialized sector reports, business and market entry plans, and export strategy papers for UK firms and agencies. Generated 92% of the consulate's business leads to the UK.
Worked closely with private industry, city and state governments to promote international trade.
Served as Press & Public Affairs Officer. Regularly provided policy and political analysis for Her Majesty's Government.
Played a major role in visits by the British Royal Family, Members of Parliament, Ambassadors and other high-level delegations.  
Managed 

Vice-Consul, Trade Attache

Managed worldwide sales and marketing for the largest textile arts book publisher in the U.S. Supervised 25+ employees, managed inside and outside sales forces, distributors and agencies. Created the annual marketing plan, designed advertising and sales materials with an in-house team. Managed a $2 million annual budget and drove all product marketing and pricing strategies.
* Created marketing program opening several significant new channels of distribution, including the retail book trade and specialty arts and crafts stores. Negotiated major contracts with new strategic partners and clients.
* Increased total sales 33% ($2.1 million) in first year. Grew international sales 35% in 16 months, primarily; the Netherlands. 
* Improved customer service operations and streamlined marketing processes which increased productivity, sales and profits to their highest levels in 24 years.
* Developed a unique marketing matrix program to match our products to customer’s profiles and 
merchandise 

Director of Sales and Marketing

Managed sales in the western United States for a start-up independent sales agency with over 20 high profile lines of gifts, foods, toys and games. Additional responsibilities included new product development and private label products.  Major new customers included Eddie Bauer, Harry and David, J.C. Penney, REI, Norm Thompson and other well-known national retail operations. 

* Pioneered seven new accounts in the first six months, achieving new revenues in excess of $1 million.
