Brand + Content Strategy, Copywriting

As a self-employed creative and marketing professional I'm a lean, green, one-woman marketing communications machine. For over 10 years I have been providing brand strategy and communications with businesses to engage and activate audiences. Recent clients include health and fitness, outdoors and cycling industries, biotech and cannabis firms. Prior to launching my own studio, I've worked both in-house and as an agency contractor, primarily as a copywriter. 

In January 2017 I formed Allied Independent to create a collaborative approach to providing specialized, focused marketing communications. We believe that doing good should be an inherent part of doing business. We believe business isn't all about the Benjamins. And we believe that how we do business is as important as what we do for business. We value people and the planet as much as profit—after all, without either, profit is meaningless.

In early 2017 I relaunched and repositioned my solo creative studio to create a collaborative lean agency and partner with clients on projects that are as much about doing good as they are about doing business. We align ourself with businesses in the outdoor, health, wellness, environmental and medical cannabis spaces to work to solve important issues facing the world today. 

Our specialties are content strategy, management and creation, email marketing for B2B, and markting communications.

Charged with repositioning the Cinelli brand in the US market as a vibrant, relevant brand in the road and gravel racing, enthusiast, and touring categories. Developed and executive all creative campaigns. Worked with Filmed By Bike to secure lead sponsorship for the touring digital film festival.

Content Strategist (short-term contract)

As a freelance writer, I provide copywriting for print collateral, web content, blogging, product reviews, long form ad copy, email newsletter campaigns and social media marketing. I also provide editorial nonfiction articles for publication.

Prior to focusing on writing, I enjoyed a reputable career as a graphic designer and art director working with publishers, small businesses and boutique agencies. As a result, I'm able to bridge the gap between the design and copy side of creative, whether the objective is identity, branding, marketing communications, advertising or digital content.

Brand and Marketing Communications

Hired by incoming CMO Slate Olson to launch two issues of Your Ride Your Rules, Specialized's digital magazine for women cyclists. I wrote, edited, and produced all content for issue number two, and assigned, edited and art directed issue number three. 

Editor-in-Chief (interim, contract)

Hired to rewrite and edit Yakima's sizable product catalog for a newly redesigned and redeveloped website and print catalog. Interviewed and wrote editorial profiles and essays featuring Yakima partner agencies, such as Leave No Trace, International Mountain Bike Association, and American Whitewater Association, to name a few. 

Copywriter + QA Editor (short-term, contract)

• One of the first team members to help launch GoLocalPDX
• Write features and news shorts related to Portland cycling industry and community

Editorial Writer | Cycling Columnist

Hired to write marketing related materials including: press releases, product packaging, web content, blog posts, print and digital media advertising campaigns, social media content, and editorial articles. Took initiative to engage local industry leaders, expand PR, provide community outreach, and identify collaborative partnerships within local cycling industry and media.

Freelance Copywriter / Industry Marketing Liaison (short-term, contract)

BikeYoga is the synthesis of two personal passions: therapeutic movement and cycling in all its forms. BikeYoga utilizes therapeutic movement for cyclists, helping to reduce pain and tension, increase flexibility and improve posture overall. Modeled as a physiotherapy program the goal is to provide maximum ROM and flexibility gains while improving core strength.

Owner, Author, Brand Creator

With over 5000 square feet of space including two practice rooms, offering over 10 class a day in various styles, four holistic bodywork and health care suites, vegetarian café, and retail boutique, YogaPearl is Portland's largest holistic wellness studio. I was hired shortly after the soft launch to develop the brand for the company, including identity and environmental design, and retail products. As a one-person internal agency this involved developing marketing strategies, designing, writing, editing and producing all advertising, marketing and collateral for multiple clients, and across multiple channels, including email marketing, print advertising, web content and social media.
