Nuclear Security Officer

My name is Duane Adent and I am currently working as a Nuclear Security Officer at PG&E, Diablo Canyon. I have previously worked in customer service and retail, where I was a merchandise buyer and key holder. I have a passion for outdoor activities and intend to transition to e-commerce.  I am proficient in Windows, Mac, Word, Excell, Outlook, and internet applications.

Serve as an armed officer carrying NRC mandated contingency weapons.  Systematically search and inspect shipments of material ranging from transformers, to general office equipment, to food, that come to the DCPP warehouse to ensure no explosives or unwanted contraband is introduced into the protected area.  Test, calibrate, and inspect electronic security equipment to manufacturer specifications including explosive detection devices, x-ray equipment, metal detectors, microwave intrusion detection systems, and infrared/camera equipment.  Strictly follow all PG&E Procedure Use and Adherence requirements when performing testing/inspection duties, and complete all related test forms and documents accurately.  Regularly work and communicate with personnel and management from various functional groups such as Operations, Warehouse Shipping/Receiving, Mechanical Maintenance, Radiological and Chemistry Group, Administration, etc.  Practice and promote Safety Culture and a Safety Conscious Work Environment.  Maintain an Electrical Safety, Qualified Persons Qualification via CBT due to work on and around energized electrical equipment with elevated arc flash and electrical shock hazards.  SEIU represented employee, familiar with collective bargaining

Confirms personal and criminal history information of detainees; completes booking records; keeps detainee body count statistics; maintains records of release dates.  Operates computer systems and utilizes law enforcement data bases to access and record information on previous arrests, outstanding warrants, court dates, and the status of detainees.  Secures and stores personal belongings of detainees; may receive and receipt money collected from and/or deposited for detainees, maintains accurate accounting of detainee’s funds and property.  Coordinates appropriate paperwork associated with court appearances and release dates; responds to inquiries from staff, courts, and public regarding the disposition of detainees.  Assists in the orientation and training of staff.  Assists in maintaining the security of assigned areas; monitors the movement and activity of detainees, staff and visitors through direct visual contact, and audio/video monitoring systems; notifies appropriate personnel in emergency situations.

Correctional Technician

Prepares the store for daily operation, and customer service.  Responsible for maintaining merchandise by purchasing, restocking, rotating, and design of displays.  Supervision of 6 person staff by maintaining time keeping records and training. Purchasing of stock, shipping, receiving, and authorization of returned merchandise.  Preparing store for next day business by processing receipts of daily sales, bank deposits, and scheduling.
