I am a freelance writer for the website, Minnesota Connected. My duties range from researching relevant local and national news stories and creating engaging and relevant copy for the website. When possible, I add photographs to enhance the reader’s experience. I have experience covering stories ranging from local to federal politics, to endurance sports, to local music and concerts.

Through this position I have learned proper AP style, hone my photography skills, as well as social media marketing, and SEO to maximize my readership

During my internship, I collaborated across departments to implement marketing campaigns, from doctors' practice, to reminding the public to get their flu shot. I had the opportunity to edit and publish the Physician Neck and Back Clinic's monthly department newsletter. I worked with creative services to create ads, banners, and Care Channel slides and I displayed excellent time management and prioritizing of projects to meet tight deadlines while working both independently and on a team setting to complete these projects in a timely manner. 

Through this position, I was able to learn Adobe InDesign, Google analytics, and Facebook analytics

Marketing Intern

I accepted the Campaign Director position for the Tim Utz campaign for the Minnesota state election in 2012. I created campaign content and distributed it to local media outlets. It was my responsibility to manage all internal, external, and crisis communications and acted as Campaign Ambassador for local and state governments. It was also my responsibility to plan and coordinate Mr. Utz's summer events schedule, and recruit and organize campaign volunteers. I was able to prepare and implement financial strategies and managed the campaign's budget.

Through this position, I learned valuable networking skills, making press contacts, utilizing social media to reach targeted constituents, as well as marketing and representing the campaigns brand consistently throughout the election season.

Campaign Director

My duties while at the insurance agency ranged from researching, drafting and publishing articles for B2C use, streamlining the agency website for client interaction and created the copy for an “Emergency QR code”. As an office assistant, I called customers throughout the day to ensure accurate database maintenance, to discuss their insurance needs compared to our insurance services, and to set appointments with their agent.

Through this position, I learned proper SEO practices, adequate office maintenance, and constant customer relations.
