Photojournalist

I earned a bachelors degree in mass communication with an emphasis in photojournalism and and graduated in spring of 2013.

I have had experience in many diverse publications in Utah that have offered a wide range of opportunity in the field as a photographer.  Among those publications are southern Utah's Spectrum newspaper, University of Utah's Daily Utah Chronicle newspaper, SLUG Magazine, The Salt Lake Tribune, the Outdoor Retailer Daily magazine, Lessons magazine, Continuum magazine, many freelance opportunities and currently the Park Record newspaper.

I have had the responsibilities of managing social media to contribute to the continuing growth of each publication in the digital environment.  I continually keep  publications websites, online media galleries, and Facebook up to date.

All of my experience with each publication has assisted in providing the ability to comfortably shoot a wide variety of subjects in a wide range of environments.  I continually seeks opportunities with setting new goals, personal expectations and challenges to work towards.  As the photo editor I have learned how to develop time management, attention to detail, social skills and the importance of communication and organization in a newsroom for a successful daily publication.

As the chief, and sole photographer for the Park Record, I am responsible for shooting, and providing photos for articles in each section for each publication.  I shoot a wide range of subjects, including year round sporting events, outdoor events, education, city, county, personal and business profile portraits and art and music events throughout Summit county (and select Wasatch county events).  

With much of the industry and culture in Park City being year-round outdoor sporting events and activities, much of my work includes hiking, biking, skiing and running in order to capture photos desired.  I am responsible for providing stand-alone feature photos for both the front page, and each section. I also have to use my own research and creativity to provide photos for a "Scene and Heard" photo page, which includes a collage of photos of miscellaneous events.

In addition to shooting for the newspaper, I also shoot photos for annual magazines published by the Park Record.

I work very

Photograph daily events associated with the University of Utah on campus and around the Salt Lake City area.  Photo editing with Photoshop, Lightroom and Photo Mechanic for daily publications.  As the photo editor I was responsible for hiring staff photographers and assign staff photographers to shoot daily events. I attended daily production meetings to coordinate the layout design with each section of the newspaper, and discuss photos provided for each section. Ideas were presented to me as the photo editor for upcoming articles needing photographs.
