Building relationships.  i love random interactions with strangers - through this you often learn how small the wold really is and how interactions with complete strangers can open your eyes to overall diversity and perspective.

I've been in an outside sales / account manager role since '09.  I worked for Confluence Watersports from February '11 until May '14.  During that time I worked remotely from Austin, covered 7 states solo, and within the first 18 months of employment I increased territory revenue over 1 million dollars and won salesperson of the year in 2012.  After leaving Confluence my goal was to cut back on the amount of annual travel and ideally take a job in Austin.  I accomplished that with an industry switch that ultimately just doesn't fit my personality.  I've learned a number of important lessons with the switch that can only come from first hand experience. 
My immediate goal is to land an outside sales role in the industry I'm passionate about.  Long term is to remain in the industry and work up to an executive management position and / or build a business from my knowledge and expertise in the industry and with the products I care about.

As Channel Director, my role was essentially to build a global distribution channel program, get buy-in from Rajant executives, recruit global distribution partners by presenting the channel program with partner prospects, when interested host product capability and market positioning presentations both in person and internet webinar.  Ultimately negotiate partnership program terms and expectations to finalize the partnership.
 - Reported to Rajant VP of sales 
 - Daily interaction with Rajant Sales Reps, VP of Marketing, Accounting and Shipping 
 - Building and maintaining communicative and trustful relationships with partners and Rajant employees was 90% of my job.  Follow through.  

Director of Global Channels 

5 state (Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Kansas) account manager for the Vibram finished goods product line.  Hired to help rebuild the lines market share in the territory by refocusing our efforts with partners by being more hands on with in-store clinics, product positioning and merchandising and working with the partner on in-store collaborative marketing efforts.   My background being paddle sports heavy, I was able to reach out to my specialty retail paddle sports contacts to position the line as a great paddle sports footwear option tapping into a previously slim market for Vibram.  

Account Manager 

Remotely managed 30+ specialty outdoor accounts in a 7 state territory (TX, OK, KS, MO, AR, LA, MS) from Austin... Travel time was roughly 150 - 170 nights a year.  Consistently hosted in-store clinics for the retail staffs to ensure superior understanding of the products in order to effectively run the sales floor.  In spring and summer the schedule was typically 12-15 on water demos throughout the territory.  Daily account management consisted communication to accounts gathering data on sell through, inventory levels, product placement and the overall tone and trends in the particular marketplace with which to adapt and strategize accordingly.  Conducted quarterly sales forecasts with expectations to meet and exceed submitted figures.  Ensure customer satisfaction is being exceeded.

Account Manager

CTS is a Motorola value added reseller (VAR) based in Austin that primarily focused on the traditional 2-way Motorola radio business to Texas DPS and Texas DOT.  I came on board after college, got a feel for the company and where revenue was coming from and decided learn the wireless broadband side of the business that wasn't being sold by the existing CTS salesforce.  From there I worked with the in house radio frequency engineers and was assigned to sell this specific product portfolio to call on local governments, city municipalities, k-12 and higher education channels offering a cost effective, turnkey wireless broadband solution to replace high cost fiber-optic lines for these entities.

Key holder and assistant manager of the San Marcos, TX location of Austin Canoe and Kayak.  I was not able to commit to a full time manager position due to my full time college student work load.  This was well before ACK was what they are today - when I was employed they had recently opened the 2nd location in San Marcos and by the end of my employment, they were opening the 3rd location in Houston.  Now they have 5 locations in Texas and a remarkable E-commerce business.  My main responsibilities consisted of knowledgeable paddle sports sales and accessory installation, constant customer service with the goal to exceed customer expectations, POS software data entry and EOD calculations, merchandising, organizing on-water demos, managed heavy rental business and a few guided kayak trips on the San Marcos river.
