Founder

Sathvik Sivaprakash is a Los Angeles based freelance Industrial Designer with a degree from the School of Industrial Design at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. A rising creative force in the design scene, some of Sathvik’s more prominent achievements include being a finalist in Design21's Power to the Pedal competition (2008), being part of the team that developed Teknion’s Optos Curve Wall that won a Silver Award at NEOCON (2009), presenting his thesis project at the Design Indaba conference in Cape Town, South Africa (2010) and winning the IIDEX Woodshop competition (2013). More recently, Sathvik has established his own product development house, Deconstrukt Inc.

Emerging from years inside the crowdfunding and online retail industries, Sathvik aims to grow Deconstrukt into a self-sustaining product development house that exists on the fringes of the design world - independent, online, and responsible for a broad spectrum of thoughtful, high-quality crowdfunded products that cater to the well informed, proactive consumer. Deconstrukt also offers freelance design solutions—past clients include Danby Appliances and Production Club.

• Design development, prototyping and production quality CAD/drawings as part of a team working on multiple internally developed products including the 1_STN Screen Printer, Hook Holds, GStop, InCOG Biketool & Brassé BBQ.
• Manufacturer correspondence for quoting and production development on multiple projects
• Lead designer on service contracts including:
• Branding and interior re-design project for high-end jewellery retailer FJTCo.
• Branding for marine & industrial bearings supplier Thordon Bearings Inc.
• Branding, concept development & housing CAD for Bonne O.
• Collaborative product development project with marketing agency RETHINK.
• Strategic design and marketing for FREE[form] competition and ongoing IIDEX Woodshop initiative.

Lead Industrial Designer

• Site evaluation template - created interdepartmental template for compiling and evaluating product installation issues for Teknion demountable wall systems.
• Optos curve wall - preliminary design detailing and refinement leading up to final product launch. Due to the nature of demountable wall systems, heavy emphasis was placed on design of assembly / disassembly.
• Teknion dna - involved in early stages of development for this modular lounge seating system, primarily understanding the applications.
• Product guides - generated material for pricing and application guides prior to product launch, specifically for Optos curve wall and acoustic planning guide.
• Presentation visuals - generated presentation visuals for internal review process, company clients and NEOCON 2009 competition submission.

Industrial Designer (Co-operative Studies Placement)

• Innoviti biometric scanner – developed product concepts for a Point of Sale security peripheral. This involved research, sketching and ideation, followed by CAD modelling for rapid prototyping and testing.
• IPTEQ Secon prayer clock – developed product concepts for an Islamic prayer clock for home/mosque environments. Due to its sensitive nature, this project required intensive research into Islamic architecture and design.
• Apsara pens – developed product concepts for a functionally/aesthetically innovative pen.
• Usha fans – developed concepts for a new product line extension for foreign markets. 

Product Design Intern

• Packaging design – developed a number of concept box layouts for CreatFX video encoding/recording products.
• Exhibition stand design – developed design concepts for the company’s GITEX 2006 Trade Exhibition stand.
