Fifteen years exceeding the expectations of the American people of civil servants, doing IT at the U.S. Small Business Administration, a year in Africa with the Peace Corps learning that people are not so different, but places are, two years working with the Anishinaabe at a tribal college in the North of Minnesota, learning about love and loss, a year working for myself and three working for one of the biggest banks in the world learning what I want from work, has brought me here.

I am exceptionally good at quickly understanding (grokking) new technologies and seeing ways to use them in the real world.  I love people in nearly all of their forms, and I derive most of my pleasure from their company, at home and work.  

I have spent the last six months studying the cloud, virtualization and myself. I seek meaningful labor in the company of good people. Perhaps in an interesting place.

Manage IT purchasing contracts and assist vendors on large-scale procurement projects. My purchasing division, Wells Fargo Dealer Services, supports contract negotiations for 29 main supply chain managers and 5,000+ bank staff. I supported 80 contract negotiations a year worth up to $3 Mil. each (or $160 Mil. a year). Main customers include: Cisco, Apple, Unisys, Insight, CA, Lenovo, NACR, Oracle and EMC.

I assisted managing large IT contracts/purchasing, sourcing, negotiations and vendor management for Randstad’s Wells Fargo. I worked with legal on redlining vendor MSAs and converting them over to our templates. Assisted in changeover to new major suppliers.

Challenge =  Participated in large purchase of security hardware for Wells Fargo where our contract calls with the vendor produced “ballpark” numbers that seemed suspicious.

IT Buyer / Vendor Manager

I helped over 12 small businesses in a year’s time leverage their technology including securing their networks and VOIP implementation.

Self Employed

Managed all technology and tech staff including developing all LAN/WAN infrastructure, budgeting, and installing a new network (physical and computer security (Cisco) and network monitoring).
Attended conferences to leverage emerging technologies. Implemented new technologies to improve the environment, and IT security projects.
I virtualized most Windows servers using VMWare ESX to reduce costs and increase efficiency and reliability. I implemented network documentation, inventory, and business continuity recovery plans.

Received intensive cultural and language training in order to serve in West Africa.
Assisted the local government with various technology initiatives including network configuration and troubleshooting, television production, IT conferences, and project management.
Advised President of the Câmara on technology and staffing issues and installed security and infrastructure servers for his government.

Volunteer - CD/IT

As an IT troubleshooter, I traveled across the US and Guam assisting other offices with technology needs, repairs, maintenance, infrastructure projects, remote support, and security.
Oversaw procurement, vendor management, hardware, software acquisition, deployment, support, network configuration and support, project management, disaster prep/recovery, security, and safety for Santa Ana offices.
I directed and assisted in developing database applications to streamline workflow.
Procured, built, configured, documented, secured, tested, and administered multiple servers including Microsoft Server (NT4.0 through 2003), Exchange Server, SMS Server, SQL Server, Fax Servers, Comm Servers, and Netware Servers (3.x, 4.x) and IIS.
