Strengthen and grow communications with a focus on media relations, social media, and Public Affairs activities. Establish the strategic communication direction for assigned region/chapters in order to promote the overall mission of the Red Cross in the local community. Responsible for raising the local visibility of the Red Cross to help the community understand how to access local Red Cross services and how to support the mission of the Red Cross. Direct and oversee the work assignment and performance of staff and volunteers. Ensure coordinated partnerships within the larger Red Cross organization and external constituents.

Responsible for media relations and internal communications for the state's largest hospital. Develop and pitch story ideas, respond to media inquiries, coordinate interviews with medical staff, executives, and others. Counsel staff on proper response techniques, pitfalls, etc. Oversee production of hospital’s employee communication vehicles, including e-newsletter, intranet news section, and printed newsletter. Draft messages for President/CEO and other leaders. Serve as communication liaison on key hospital initiatives, including infection prevention, hand hygiene compliance, employee flu vaccines, and benefits enrollment. Oversaw hospital-wide communications audit; led follow-up effort to revamp intranet home page.

Served as first managing editor of intranet news page. Oversaw daily production of news stories and photos. Also developed marketing plan to introduce vehicle launch. Developed and executed internal communications for initiatives and projects, ranging from safety campaigns to pandemic preparation. Served as editor of quarterly employee wellness magazine.
