As a media producer/graphics designer, I strive to produce clean yet imaginative designs aimed at attracting the eyes of readers. I tell stories by combining my command of the English language with my love of typography.

• Designed hot newspaper pages on evening copy desk, including 1A
• Created eye-catching feature and section-front pages and special sections in QuarkXPress
• Copy edited reporters’ writing for English, AP style and correctness
• Wrote headlines for range of topics, from hard-news stories to lighthearted columns
• Served as sole designer of newspaper’s weekly 16-page entertainment section
• Planned and attended daily meetings with management and copy desk to coordinate flow of news
• Carried out nightly posting of web content to ensure timeliness of  newspaper’s online presence
• Color-corrected color and black-and-white photos in Photoshop
• Crafted unique photo illustrations using layers, cut-outs, shadows and filters in Photoshop

• Informed readers on actions of village board, school board, county commission, natural resource districts
• Performed all duties of sports editor, including writing, photography, stats, editing and design
• Enterprised feature stories and series that appealed to paper’s faithful readership
• Delivered voter coverage leading up to and including election night

• Provided customer service to advertising clients; sold and designed ads
• Developed, sold and designed signature full- and half-page ads that promoted special events
• Contributed stories that appeared in Johnson Publications specialty tabs eight times a year
