In 1973 Athalon established manufacturing in Denver, CO.  Each bag was designed and tested by Athalon employees, who were avid sports enthusiasts and travelers.  As the years have passes, Athalon's reputation for quality, valu and durability has grown.  Today, Athalon has grown and manufactures bags for Samsonite Golf, ski and snow bags, a variety of travel duffels and hybrid bags that are sold in specialty luggage and travel shops and in specialty sporting goods shops.

Designed and sold plants, containers, holiday displays and maintenance of plants service to corporate accounts, malls and other businesses in RI and Southeastern Massachusetts.

A month long voyage with  Dr. John Bockstoce, family friend, neighbor and Artic explorer, author and historian, and crew retracing some of my father's adventures in Labrador as a medical missionary in the early 1930's.  I flew into Goose Bay, Labrador, and then made my way to the coast to board the Belvedere, sailing down the North Atlantic coast of Labrador to Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and ending the month's voyage in Camden, ME.

While studying at Harvard's Radcliffe Seminars landscape design program I worked at Fred Dabney's Wholesale Nursery propagating plants.

Drove West on a cross country trip through New England, New York, Ohio, Michigan (grandpa and Widmayer relatives), Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska then continuing West to Wyoming (Tetons and Yellowstone), Montana, Idaho, Utah, California, Nevada, Colorado and then back through Nebraska, Indiana, Michigan (grandpa Widmayer and relatives), Ohio, New York  (Thousand Islands and Finger Lakes), Vermont, New Hampshire and then back to Massachusetts.   As an almost 30 year old this was a once in a lifetime trip in my Honda with my golden retriever, Sir Windermere, culminating in so many special visits with Suffield alumni friends who I met over the years both as a student and as an administrator there as well as loads of sailing friends from 20+ years of sailing and racing and friends of my parents, Capt. Robert H. Goodwin MD and Doris A. Goodwin.  This trip taught me so very many things and I thank all of those who helped to make this journey a life changing experience.
