Buyer, Merchandise Planner & Assistant Store Manager

I am a recent college graduate from University of Wisconsin-Stout, aspiring to enter the retail industry to utilize my education and experience, and furthermore, grow with a company I am passionate about. I face a future of many challenges I am eager to overcome, and with my Bachelors Degree in Retail Merchandising and Management, I am confident I will succeed.

I have worked for Victoria’s Secret for 4 years, where my work ethic and skills are always heightened and I have had many positive opportunities to continue growing in a fast-paced business environment. I also had a great opportunity to intern at The Niche Boutique at University of Wisconsin-Stout, where I was able to take my education to a hands-on experience as a Category Buyer/Planner and Assistant Store Manager. During both jobs, I have been acknowledged for exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, as well as analytical and strategic thinking skills.

I have found several areas of interest I would be happy to seek employment in: Merchandising, Store Planning, Product Development, and Visual Merchandising. I believe I have the necessary skills, personality, team-player attitude, and drive to become an effective and efficient asset to a company. I know what it takes to build a professional relationship, negotiate with vendors, analyze business reports and implement effective action plans to deliver results.

Since I was a young girl, I have absolutely loved to sew. I enrolled in my first sewing class in 4th grade, and have sewn many garments and home textiles since, including a prom dress. As I decided to pursue Retail instead of Design, I hold textile development close to my heart and know my knowledge of quality, construction, materials and stitches will come to use. I am constantly learning, and it excites me to know I will broaden my knowledge and experience of the retail industry during my life.

The Niche is a fashion boutique operated by the Retail Merchandising and Management students at University of Wisconsin-Stout.  There are five categories that work together to make the store successful with full assortments, well-marketed promotions, and to ultimately achieve planned sales.

I had a great opportunity to intern with The Niche and use my education on a hands-on experience.  I was apart of a small team for the Food and Beverage category, which was the top category in the store and had the highest turnover.  This meant my team had to comp shop at the various stores around campus that were competitors to ensure we had the best priced product, and were well-known for it.
 
Achievements:
- Successful vendor negotiations at trade shows that saved us upwards of 25% of our original buying budget.
- Became exceptionally skilled at creating various types of reports for all categories and store as a whole.
o Analyzed said reports to ensure we were selling the right product, etc.

I have worked at Victoria’s Secret for upwards of 4 years, where I have learned various business practices that make a successful store, and what it takes to exceed sales.  In the four years I have worked for Victoria’s Secret I have been lucky enough to be apart of our store moving up a sales level to $4-$6 million, as well as a store remodel and expansion.  I have learned how to work as a team and I have grown to have a strong work ethic; I know what it means to have hard work and determination.  This is proven by being recognized as a strong asset to the store by not only my store’s management team, but also by my District Manager, and it has given me the opportunity to meet various corporate employees of Victoria’s Secret.  

Achievements:
-  Promoted from Sales Support/Associate to temporary Merchandise Flow Supervisor
-  One of fifty Sales Associates asked to participate in company training workshops and learning labs, and to present with Store Manager to corporate executives

Sales Associate/Sales Support

After several years at Victoria’s Secret, I was offered a permanent position based on excellent performance, however my final semester of school resulted in a temporary position.  During my time as the Temporary Merchandise Flow Supervisor, I learned a lot and was still viewed as a valuable asset to the team.  I put my leadership, analytical, and strategic thinking skills to much use.  

Achievements: 
- Offered a permanent position
- Successfully lead shipment processing in a timely manner, while executing the Brand Guide to ensure new product was presented in the correct spot as soon as we received it. 
- Analyzed reports to support the development and execution of short term action plans and long term strategies
- Assisted in the planning and development of the stockroom during store remodel

Temporary Merchandise Flow Supervisor

-  Demonstrated organizational and teamwork skills by planning tee times, tournaments, and events.  
-  Strengthened analytical skills by promoting the sales of merchandise
-  Presented interpersonal skills by demonstrating exceptional customer service to ensure customer satisfaction

Golf Shop Staff, Food and Beverage

-  Manufactured textile draperies for establishments around the nation from start to finish
-  Accurately measured, cut, and sewed in large quantities with the best quality at mind
-  Packaged products, completed shipping information, and sent product in a timely manner
