I'm an experienced creative worker in broadcast and print media, savvy with the technical tools of production and the development of strategies that make producing content worth the investment.  I enjoy working at the nexus of video, marketing, and education, believing that every good product must tell a compelling story that excites people into action.
 
My video work encompasses live sports, reality TV, commercials, corporate marketing communications, and eLearning content. As a technician, I have lensed 15 years of programming as a Camera Operator and Director of Photography (underwater, jib, and steadicam, too!), and have mixed sound as an ENG A2 for 10 years. After honing expert technical skills, I began writing and producing reality TV shows and commercials, and have moved into producing content for eLearning modules and corporate communications for the last 9 years.
 
I am a huge proponent of life-long learning, having benefited from the knowledge of world-class professors and co-workers, and I bring a passion to teaching and instructional design that reflects my appreciation for learning new things. I have been Adjunct Faculty at several Southern California colleges since 2006, primarily teaching an array of classes in TV production, sound recording, photography, and graphic design.

Consultant to healthcare and education SMBs on media planning, branded content development, content syndication, IP commercialization strategies. Lead developer of branded video content to networks of 50 musculoskeletal care providers and 11 urologists. Created strategies for monitizing white papers, case studies, instructional guides, journal reports. Designed a multimedia curriculum on advanced manufacturing for students within K-12, college & university, and professional studies.  Authored 260-pages of lesson plans and instructional content based on a documentary film that explores United States manufacturing from economic, historical, and technological perspectives.

Instructor in Bachelor of Science degree program in Digital Filmmaking & Video Production, with additional appointment in Audio Production program. Developed campus-wide protocol and proficiency test for faculty and students in use of multi-camera broadcast facility. Faculty advisor for three student-run organizations: Student Filmmakers Assoc., RAi-D.O (student webcast radio station), and framework:afield (student audio field recording project). Career development advisor for AUDA and DFVA departments. Successful placement of seven current students with companies in broadcast television industry. Member of internal WASC Accreditation Committee – 2012.

Adjunct Faculty

Oversee development and production of original media content for web-based career exploration video series. Write production scripts aligned with industry trends and corporate marketing strategy. Develop schedules and budgets from script breakdowns. Manage field operations of small to moderate sized productions. Coordinate vendors and consultants in prototype development and B2B & B2C market testing. Directed technology licensing process with University of California and managed patent filing process with outside legal. Principal Investigator on National Science Foundation grant of $145K for prototype development. Leveraged personal and professional network to earn corporate partnerships and strategic alliances with prominent mid-sized firms in Southern California’s education, legal, manufacturing, aerospace, consumer electronics, and entertainment industries.

Executive Producer

Provide instruction in Associates Degree fundamentals of media writing and sound design for students seeking entry-level employment and/or matriculation to university. Principal Investigator on National Science Foundation grant to develop web-based career exploration portal for careers within the STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) disciplines. Wrote and managed grant submission process, including conducting empirical research, intellectual property search, and partnership development. Presently developing third iteration of product prototype, in conjunction with researchers at University of California, Santa Barbara.

Developed video and audio communications solutions for government and commercial entities. Wrote creative briefs and production scripts for integrated marketing campaigns. Performed field monitoring and recording for radio ad spots & news reports, and electronic press kits.  Managed equipment selection for optimum audio-video integration and recording in the field. Coordinated and monitored available broadcast signal frequencies during remote productions. Developed media strategies for local and regional media outlets in California, Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, and Washington Created media purchase schedules for cable and satellite broadcast for Western Region markets. Coordinated press kits and media releases. Clients included Fox Home Video, MGM Home Video, Maloy O’Neill Vineyards, Segway LLC, WINDOR, Long Beach Museum of Art, County of Los Angeles, County of Orange, CA, and City of Lynwood, CA.

Producer, Marketing Communications

Delivered seminar-styled technical instruction on writing for news and entertainment media outlets to experienced professionals seeking career-changing education. Developed and managed industry mentor program with PBS affiliate station, KOCE – Orange County. Implemented curriculum alignment with industry career pathways designated by participating PBS affiliates and industry stakeholders.

Performed ENG and studio camera work for various sports productions involving professional surfing, hockey, soccer, boxing, and college basketball. Shows include:   ESPN’s  X-Games, NBA All-Star Game for NBC; successive seasons of ESPN’s Countdown to the Sweet 16 (NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament); Telemundo’s Top Rank Boxing; NBC’s coverage of the Triple Crown of Surfing in Hawaii; the Tiger Woods Invitational for ABC Sports; and Border Patrol for ABC.

Also did camera work for reality shows such as COPS, for FOX; 9 foreign seasons of FOX Network’s Temptation Island shot in Honduras and Thailand; 2 successive seasons of ABC’s Celebrity Mole shot in Cancun and Kona, Hawaii; Discovery Channel’s Search &

Director of Photography

ENG audio work on ABC’s Extreme Makeover-Home Edition; Fine Living Network’s travelogue Great Adventure; NBC/Bravo’s hair salon reality series, Blow Out; Nickelodeon’s game show Family Face-Off; FOX Network’s Trading Spouses and Behind the Gate, both programs on suburban life; NBC Studios’ dating show Average Joe; ABC Family’s Switched!; USA Network’s House Wars; Showtime Network’s search for hip-hop talent The Next; Bravo’s America’s Next Producer; Court TV’s Beach Patrol. Performed audio measurement, frequency monitoring, and multi-track recording both in the field and in-studio, with emphasis in wireless digital transmission.

Sound Mixer

Taught technical applications and theoretical frameworks of film-based and digital still photography subjects. Managed and maintained college’s 2000 sq. ft. darkroom facility, including chemistry inventory management and supply ordering.
