Product Development Specialist

As fabric materials developer for Levi Strauss & Co, I lead seasonal research & development with a focus on commercialization of innovative textiles. 
I'm a recipient of LS&Co's highest internal recognition award for my role in the successful product launch of our Commuter Series. Made for urban cyclists, the line uses innovative materials for comfort and performance, winning a WGSN global fashion award for denim design.

Recent Highlights

--Levi x Nike action sports collaboration team: We launched technical denim product platforms for skateboarding and BMX. The success of these products led to further development of performance denims at all price levels--which maintained the look, feel, and comfort of traditional denim. 

--Fit relaunch for women's Levi's: My role was to identify and source innovative stretch and comfort materials to grow the skinny and super-skinny fit categories. 

I am passionate about materials, product, and the people that make them. I am at my best when looking for new ideas that excite creation and possibilities. I like shepherding the development process, so that the outcomes are relevant and meaningful to our customers and the brand.

Source and develop denim product categories; Commuter Series, Nike Skateboarding Collaboration, Sta Prest, Selvedge Goods, Best of Red Tab. Collaborate with design and procure technical development details for a style including material, finish, trim, styling, intent, and performance. Lead remote workshops for approval of prototypes, denim finishing, and cost of goods. Integrated brand led strategies for social focus and sustainability into the seasonal fabric and garment finishing development. Managed product development assistants, training, mentoring, and performance assessment.

Drive fabric innovation and seasonal R&D for trend, sustainability, and performance categories by partnering with mills and chemical suppliers, conducting external global market watch, and attending trade shows. Source and develop materials that fit seasonal price and source strategy while communicating brand message for Levi Men's and Women's product. Collaborate with design and product development to develop and commercialize garments which meet brand requirements within a go to market timeline. Monitor quality, resolve issues, and provide expertise in fabric construction and vendor capability.  Travel internationally.

Technical Materials Developer

Developed fabric, garments, packaging, labels, and garment trims for Tommy Bahama, BB Dakota, Tea Collection, Cutter & Buck, et al. Managed embroidery, color, and print approval for development through production. Fostered relationships with clients and vendors. Organized an extensive fabric library and managed this resource for all trims, knits, and wovens. Trouble shoot development and production issues. Traveled to Lima, Peru.
