Project Specialist

I am a graduate of the Leeds School of Business at The University of Colorado - Boulder and I have just completed the planning, development and launch of UC San Diego's first all campus entrepreneurial start-up incubator.  In this role, I was responsible for campus outreach, marketing communication and event marketing leading up to the launch of the incubator.  I also have had experience with a pr/ communications agency in Southern California working on a variety of consumer product accounts. This included e-commerce products as well as utilizing SEO processes and other strategies to ensure great branding for our clients.  My personal and ideal career is one involving brand management and marketing of a sports lifestyle company.  My recreational passion is surfing which I have enjoyed since elementary.school.  I come from a family of surfers from parents, to siblings and uncles who all live the action sports lifestyle; so I personally appreciate action sport brands as a consumer and user. Your company will find me to be energetic, driven, highly teachable and a great collaborator.

Our team is in the process of creating a new start-up business incubator space (The Basement) for all students at UCSD. Launching within the next upcoming months The Basement is a resource for students across UCSD interested in entrepreneurship and innovation.  Essentially, the incubator will be a space on the UCSD campus where students and investors can converge to pursue new ideas and business concepts in the technology, biosciences, health care and communications fields, to name a few.

On February 6,2015,  we launched the newest entrepreneurial space on the UC San Diego campus, The Basement.  ACE staffers, many UCSD Alumni Board Directors, student start-up teams, alumni start-up companies and campus leadership participated in a full day of programming featuring a morning dedication with Chancellor Khosla, ribbon cutting and space tours. Portfolium is an interactive portfolio network and showcase. We help students, recent graduates, young and experienced professionals visually showcase their projects, skills and experiences well beyond the limits of a traditional resume. As recent college graduates who have made the transition from college to career, we know first-hand the challenges in creating a traditional resume without any professional work history.

Portfolium allows users to highlight experiences and skills from all facets of their life, providing a more comprehensive, holistic view of their passions, abilities and overall potential.

As a Marketing Intern I assist the CMO Royce Rowan in a all facets of carrying out the marketing plan for Portfolium. I am primarily using the social media marketing outlets creating and finding content for Portfolium.

Marketing Internship

Zenzi Communications is a mid-sized social media company that promotes national and regional consumer products. My internship involved creating press releases announcing new products such as ToeSox which is a yoga grip sock. I conducted market research on agency competition to give Zenzi a better understanding of their competitive niche.
And, I worked with Ranker.com to gather consumer data suitable for ranking stories. For example, what beers are considered the best for football games.

Rancho Mission Viejo is a 23,000-acre residential and mixed-use community and nature preserve in Southern California and was named best 2014 community in the U.S. It is the largest "agrihood" in the region too. I worked with the marketing and Reserve teams to create educational presentations for local residents, led student field trips around the Reserve, and created social media posts for the company on events and activities to engage more residents and Reserve fans.
