I did a lot of non-traditional advertising and brand building here, and it was also my first foray into non-profits, associations and government clients. I worked on a lot of video scripts, as well as new business pitches. The highlight of my year at Ogilvy was a TV and radio PSA we did for the National Association of Broadcasters raising awareness about mental illness in teens, shown in 99% of the U.S. television network market, and a majority of radio market

Copywriter

Freelance copywriting for various agencies including Datamark and The Summit Group in Salt Lake City, UT, as well as CSG Creative in Washington, D.C.. Clients varied, including everything from consumer goods to online education and traditional universities, trade shows, online services and investment ventures.

Clients served include: Shoney's, Stoney River Steakhouses, Jos. A. Bank Menswear, Wintergreen Resorts, Dollar General, Ochsner Health System, TriStar Health System, Western Baptist Hospital, The Frist Center for the Visual Arts, Gammill Quilting Systems, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee, The Martha O'Bryan Center and The Pigeon Forge Dept. of Tourism.

This was my own personal TV and radio bootcamp. I was brought on to work on Shoney's Restaurants and for awhile, all I did was scripts. Eventually I branched out to other agency clients and got experience working in all traditional formats. This included lots of outdoor, print, some guerilla and other opportunities. Our team was featured in CA, and we were the most decorated agency at the ADDYs. My work contributed to a few of those, as well as an Emmy for one of the Shoney's spots.

Broad copy duties centering around strategy, creation and execution of ad concepts and collateral material for in-house clients (Ancestry.com, MyFamily.com, publications, etc.). Conceptual copywriting for web and email as well as print, direct mail and POP audiences.

I couldn't have asked for a more perfect, first bona fide ad job. Although it was an in-house team, it felt like an agency environment. They built the team almost from scratch, and we were given great creative freedom, encouragement and guidance from the get-go. Inside of three years, the team won best-of-show at the ADDYs and had pieces in the national show, and I personally won my first five ADDYs. I received extensive experience in subscriber base communication, emails, and banners (physical as well as digital), as well as traditional print and plenty of internal stuff. I also got to touch TV and radio.

This one was for credit. 

This internship was a lot of practice brainstorming, presenting, and partnering with different creative teams within the agency. 

Clients served include: Dannon, Pepperidge Farm, Accenture, NY Aquarium, and the Florida Citrus Board.

Copywriting Intern

This one was for fun. 

I was able to contribute to more than a few brainstorming sessions for clients for ads that actually made it to production. I also saw my first radio spot through each of the steps from conception, to production/editing, to being on air. I remember hearing it for the first time in a store in the mall and telling the store manager, "Hey, I wrote that." One of the best feelings ever.
