TREND RESEARCH: Analysing self initiated market research, vintage samples, fashion shows & blogs to create ‘trend direction’ and ‘product concept’ packets. Travelling several times to California & New York to research street style and shop trends.
CONSTRUCTION: A wide knowledge of garment constructions, costing amendments options & creating comprehensive trim guides.
Technical design trained for all accessories products, producing ‘specked out’ tech packs to send directly to the vendor, creating mould designs, etching artworks & preparing fit comments in relation to measurements, quality and finishes for review with cross functional teams prior to providing comprehen- sive written formal sample fit comments for the vendor.
PRODUCT DESIGN- Creating high quality, aspirational products for the unique lifestyle brands. Taking ownership of my products entire design process, building the silhouette range, presenting hand drawn, & CAD sketches to senior designers & Brand Leads. Sourcing fabric & trims for each design, considering all details & noting them in the sketch pass to tech designers & vendors in order to achieve successful first fit samples. Reviewing Graphic and CAD strike offs, approving Lab dips, & developing new wash & dye effects. Actively contributing to fit meetings & confidently presenting my categories products to the CEO for each season.
SALES ANALYSIS: Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that we offered quality ‘Trend right’ products with strong cost margins. - Organising design process activities including :- trend forecasting, comparating mkt/shop reports, collating bought samples, & producing concept boards.
- Sourcing London trims, meeting with trim suppliers & developing trims with vendors for garments to assist members of the design team.
- Negotiatiating the lead times for new lab dips and photo samples by corresponding with overseas suppliers. Ensuring that lab dips, trims & fabrics lead times were in line with expectations and produce, update & present the results at the weekly `critical path' meetings with the cross-functional teams.
