Mechanical Engineer

Mechanical Design Engineer in Automation since July 2013. Very quick to learn and incorporate new knowledge and skills. Interested in a position in product design, particularly consumer goods or outdoor gear. I would like to incorporate my interests in designing things and making people's experiences more enjoyable.

Responsible for designing complete automation machines on the scale of $100k to over $1million. Machines perform a variety of functions including assembly, inspection, and machine tending. In my role as Mechanical Engineer, I see projects from initial concepts all the way to factory installation.

I was a Mechanical Engineering (concentrating in Product Design) major with a Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences concentration in Technical Theater. I held several Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) positions, including working on a several-million-dollar production of a robotic opera. I was an undergraduate lab assistant for Design and Manufacturing I during the spring 2012 term and am continuing to be a staff member for the course during the 2012-2013 year.

Undergraduate Assistant

From December 2009 to April 2011, I was a part of the Opera of the Future group which was producing Death and the Power: The Robot's Opera. I manufactured and assembled a dozen $5K robots with a team of other UROP students and then operated the robots during rehearsals and performances (including the world premier in Monte Carlo, Monaco). Summer 2011 I was again working with the Opera of the Future group but this time I was working on the mechanical design aspect of a musical toy.

UROP Student

I was responsible for identifying bar codes of the products in the company's warehouse and then helped with the design of a system that would enable the company to go paperless by using handheld barcode scanners. I also was responsible for helping to refine the company's internal product listing to make the selection process easier for employees.
