My work focuses on various types of designs that aim to please the eye while still capturing the essence of the piece. As I incorporate a mixture of illustrative techniques in my designs, I capture the overall feel of the work with a sense of purpose of what it truly represents. Each piece gets their own different treatment regarding the concept, layout, colors, and typography as I work to ensure each piece matches its’ purpose. Working in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator simultaneously helps expand my creative technique. Depending on the content and purpose of the piece, I will choose different compositions making them look either clean and sharp, rough and complex, or a mixture of the two. Once the composition is generally laid out, color, content, and typography then dictate how I want the feel and the “vibe” of the piece to translate its supposed to represent. As I mesh my illustrative and graphic styles, they work to create a dynamic piece that will be interesting and unique to the project. Much of my work represents my love of the ocean, my hometown, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, and the universe. Since the ocean and outer space are constantly changing, their influence has helped me to explore many different artistic ideas and methods. I put myself in those spaces so the art will really show the “me” within my work. I’ve always found art to be more pleasing if it can convey the artists’ true passion and soul. Being genuine about what I do motivates myself to further explore the passions that I love.
