I currently work as a Marketing Assistant for the athletic department at Washington State University, where I create and promote strategic content for marketing and donor development. I’ve had a tremendous impact on the continued and perpetual rebranding of Cougar Athletics, and I want to obtain a job that relies heavily on the concepts I’ve learned in Pullman, along with the skills I acquired as a journalist and math major. At WSU, I lead the marketing and video campaign for our development arm, the Cougar Athletic Fund. Since arriving in Pullman, our annual athletic scholarship fund has increased $1.2 million - more than a 25 percent increase. I produce written and video content for social media and our websites, and then analyze our web metrics via Hootsuite and extrapolate trends, which has helped me obtain a keen understanding of the content that sports fans appreciate and consume. Additionally, I help identify different groups of fans, and help craft an outreach strategy tailored specifically to each group. Prior to moving to Pullman, I worked as an entertainment law reporter for a niche legal publication, the Los Angeles Daily Journal. There I wrote more than 200 articles for a sophisticated audience of legal professionals, covering litigation, mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcy proceedings and business trends affecting the Southern California entertainment industry. Working at the Daily Journal afforded me the opportunity to build not only my writing skills, but my inter-personal and verbal skills as well. During an interim period between obtaining my Master’s degree from USC and my time at the newspaper, I worked as a featured columnist for Bleacher Report, covering the 2011-12 college football season. I produced both assigned and original content, and was the most read blogger on the website between the months of September and February. I have experience in implementing marketing programs and campaigns for a Pac-12 university's athletic department and measuring their effectiveness. My work at WSU, along with my experience in journalism, has given me excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills, and my background in Mathematics has given me the ability to view problems, tasks and opportunities analytically. I am proficient in creative software such as Photoshop, Premiere, Final Cut Pro, After Effects and Avid, to name a few. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2009, I’ve lived and breathed writing, communication, sports and social media. As a result, I can be the jack-of-all-trades that you’re looking for – someone who can write copy and edit a video in the morning, and then discuss numbers and trends in the afternoon.
