Knitting Machine Technician

I have been working in the hosiery/sock industry for over 22 years. I have over 18 years  experience  as a mechanic on high-speed electronic sock knitting machines with one of the world's largest apparel companies.

Responsible for the maintenance and mechanical up-keep of hi-speed electronic sock knitting machines. Work with mechanical, electrical, electronical, and pneumatic aspects of high speed knitting machines in a fast paced manufacturing environment. Duties involve daily maintenance on assigned machines making sure that everything is working properly and fixing disconnected wiring and stop motion detectors. Adjust gears and cams when defects are detected in socks. Replace broken parts. Troubleshooting and determining proper procedures and course of action in order to fix machines that are making defective products. Record paperwork of daily maintenance, parts that are needed for machines, and style changes. Install programs that are needed for machines in order to fix defects or for style changes. 

Final Inspector - Inspect pallets of finished drink cans for defects, scan tickets and place on approved pallets to be shipped, respond to faults with strapping machines and replace strapping when needed, quality checks on products when SENCON alarms go off for defective inner lining of cans,use SAP and QAS to enter data into quality control system, take strap tension checks per shift and enter into QAS, make sure shrink wrap is working and replace wrap when needed, work in necker area when needed to do hourly quality checks,crush tests, light sensor checks, operate palletizer when needed.

Briquetter/Over Head Crane - Operate briquetter machines that turn scrap aluminum into blocks, load blocks onto pallets, strap each layer with hand strapper,weigh each full pallet of scrap and place tickets for shipping,operate fork lift to load 20,000+ pound aluminum coils onto stamping presses, scrap defective pallets, minor maintainence on briquetter machines, make sure area is clean before shift

Final Inspector

Machinist -  Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.Machine parts to specifications using CNC milling centers and lathes.Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations. Align and secure holding fixtures,vises, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances.Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.

Installation of Directv satellite systems in customers                 homes. Use of GPS, Siebel System, keeping accurate paperwork of daily work orders, customer service, daily driving records, customer education on use of satellite system, interact with customers throughout the day. Responsible for company vehicle. Integrating customer’s home theater system/electronics with satellite system.

Satellite Installation Technician
