My name is Russell Martiny, I currently work for Northwestern Mutual as the Director of Selection. I believe my unique work history with Harley-Davidson, YP Advertising, and NML have positioned me to transition seamlessly into any position. Over the course of my lifetime I have learned many lessons that have molded me into a person with unique skills. Skills that I believe stand out among my peers and position me to fit well in any work environment. Through competitive athletics, I have learned many principles of leadership & work ethic. I developed the skill of selecting the proper mentors to gain wisdom and direction. I learned to constantly be fully engaged and to sharpen my skills for greater productivity. By intelligently following my leaders, I was able to duplicate their duties and pass them on to others. While interacting with individuals from all backgrounds, I have developed an appreciation for understanding different perspectives and communication styles. Through excellent coaching, I developed a burning desire to be the best and work the hardest to produce results that were beyond what others expected of me. In attaining my marketing degree, I learned to work smarter. The main principles that I acquired from this curriculum were to clarify your businesses objectives, identify and evaluate emerging opportunities, and establishing brand awareness. I began to have a more open mind, which helped me to gather information from unconventional places to present innovative ideas. As Lead Sales Associate and Tour Center Marketing Research Intern at Harley-Davidson, I was able to forge long lasting relationships with the customer base at the Juneau Avenue, Pilgrim Road, and PDC facilities. I helped coordinate successful Tour Center events for Harley-Davidson Dealer Show and Harley-Davidson 105th, and provided guidance on how we could better the H-D Tour experience by interpreting data from the Tour Center surveys. As a Media Manager for YP Advertising, I believe I became proficient in three core skills vital to a productive sales and marketing person: Prospecting (selecting & acquiring leads, business partners, mentors, etc…) Fact Finding (discovering the needs), and Closing (asking for the business). I have interacted with individuals at all levels and in most sectors of business. I built an exciting clientele and produced results that placed me in the Top Quartile of my peers as well as a leader within my office. I am interested in pursuing a career path that involves event coordination, relationship management, and integrating marketing materials. My professional and educational backgrounds are in marketing and sales with an emphasis towards project management. I strive to be a part of an innovative team that has the mindset to reach for the absolute best.
