I have a Bachelors of Science in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration with a concentration in Special Event Management from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. After graduating I completed an internship with Connie Reeves & Company, a full service incentive-travel, meeting, and event planning company. There, I assisted in the coordination of a large corporate meeting for 500 guests at the Omni San Diego and simultaneously worked with a team in the coordination of multiple events for the San Diego Brain Tumor Society which is run by Connie Reeves as well. Connie Reeves & Co. is a fairly small business and was financially unable to hire me on as an employee so started seeking out another opportunity. I began a 3 month internship with Transworld Media in their Event Management Department. This was a great learning experience as I was able to work with a fairly large team on multiple projects including The 2012 US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach. Shortly after my internship ended I made the decision to move to Australia. I lived and worked there in the hospitality industry for one year and it was a wonderful experience. After my Australian Visa expired I moved back to California, but not for long. I got an opportunity to work for an international travel company based out of Barcelona, Stoke Travel Company. I worked in a seasonal position for them for four months, during which I helped coordinate and execute multiple events across Europe. This was a very rewarding and exciting position from which I gained a lot of experince. Since returning to the US at the end of October, I have been managing a Cafe Topes in Carlsbad to get back on my feet. It is a small cafe that only opened less than 2 years ago, and as a team, we have gained the stamp of approval with over 450 yelp reviews and a 4.5 star rating. At this time, I am eager to continue my career in the field of special events and am actively seeking a position as an event coordinator.
