A Los Angeles based photographer proficient in commercial action sports and portrait photography. His work ranges from studio based productions to the feral wilderness. He is equally learned in using both artificial and natural light, and is able to adapt to almost any lighting circumstance. Randy is a student of people and embraces his fellow man with widespread arm. It is his philosophy that people make the best subjects, and it’s uncommon for his work to be void of human life. "Photography, art, advertisement: we discuss these notions, we critique them, we pick them apart, we admire them—some people put themselves into only one of these categories and work specifically with one aesthetic. I don’t believe in doing that. While I do have my own specific style, every assignment and every idea needs to be treated individually and not grouped into some broad category. I like variety in my work." - Randy Rataj In April 2014, Randy received a Bachelors of Fine Arts with a concentration in Photography from the University of North Florida. While studying photography, he has gained experience working professionally as the Photo Editor and as a Photographer for the UNF Spinnaker, During his time with the Spinnaker, he has photographed featured profiles and created in-house advertisements that received awards by the Associated Collegiate Press. Randy also works with multiple publications, clients, and photographers either behind the lens or behind the scenes, he is proficent in all aspects of production.
