Accounting Manager

Hands on Accounting Manager with 17 years experience in all aspects of accounting including 11 years in management roles. 

Proven track record in implementing processes through extensive understanding of technology and workplace dynamics.

Management of accounting department, which includes credit and collections, accounts receivable and payable.

Month-end and year-end close, journal entries, research and analysis, banking relationships, cash management, fixed assets, financial statement preparation and review, benefit audits, property tax, workers compensation audits and reporting. Work closely with management on process improvement endeavors.

Function as the Human Resource Manager with duties including: payroll, 401k administration, benefits and renewals, payroll and employee support. Direct liaison to the five locations to support management staff.

Migrated company payroll and timekeeping system to a cloud based product and time clock hardware.  This migration included researching networking with new HR vendors to address the companies needs after being with Paychex’s HR Solutions for 10+ years.

Implemented new 401k system including migration to new service provider, broker and TPA.

Full cycle accounting including AR, AP, GL, cash management, banking relationships, line of credit management, payroll and payroll tax filings. Worked closely with CPA during tax preparation. Managed all human resource functions including new hires, terminations, benefit renewals, reviews, disputes and documentation. Manage two direct reports and report directly to the CEO.

Streamlined month-end process by creating reconciliation and documentation process decreasing time to close from over one month to one week.

Worked closely with CEO to monitor cash flow projections and bank accounts resulting in better visibility of cash on weekly and monthly basis.

Created new reports for commissions and sales figures allowing management and account executives to have a better understanding of monthly performance levels.

Streamlined project tracking and billing resulting in more time efficient and accurate process and reducing client disputes.

Served on Management Team and began facilitating meetings resulting in an increase in decision making within the agency.

Supervised AR and AP clerks, assisted with month end close, journal entries, cash management, and bank reconciliation. Worked closely with the management team on operational issues and company-wide process management. Managed all human resource functions including new hires, terminations, benefit renewals, reviews, disputes, OSHA issues, ergonomics, injury management and prevention and documentation.

Successfully managed Timbuk2’s accounting department as it doubled in size in order to support an increase of revenue from $3M to $15M over 3 years.

Supported controller and auditors in first internal audit, resulting in a new process for completing annual audits and managing inventory.

Served on the management team tasked with setting up Great Plains to be more efficient with external computer systems within the production and shipping departments. Through this collaboration, Timbuk2 was able to utilize all of Great Plains’ manufacturing processes to support the ecommerce business from order receipt on the website, to production and billing.

Created new ecommerce receipt reconciliation process changing the process from manual to automated within Great Plains cutting reconciliation time down by 96%.

Scottish & Newcastle Importers is a subsidiary of Scottish & Newcastle of England which is the brewer of Newcastle Brown Ale. Scottish & Newcastle Importers is the San Francisco based office responsible for the importation and distribution of multiple brands under the Newcastle umbrella.
