I have cultivated a love for the ocean through a lifetime spent in and around it, and have a strong desire to pursue a career in a field that allows me to further engage with that precious resource. I spent my college years in Seattle, which provided me with a thoroughly enriching experience in an entirely different environment, but one which ultimately confirmed my desire to travel south again and be near the ocean. That said, I have spent 6 years working at a surf shop. This allowed me to enter the surf industry at the ground floor, and through my interactions with friends and colleagues, I was fortunate enough to have received an informal yet thorough education on the industry; of course, only a start. With this collective experience, I have affirmed my ambition to further engage with and work in the surf industry, as I see it as the best way to seamlessly marry my passion and career going forward. Lastly, the surf industry is becoming evermore conscious on its environmental impact, and is actively taking steps to support environmental causes as well as shift product design and manufacturing to more sustainable models. This both excites and motivates me to work in an industry that owes its base success to nature, and is actively trying to reconcile its business practices with that in mind.
