Assume full buying responsibility for significant product lines.  Oversee the purchasing, quality, pricing, and turnover of items to meet member needs and profitability objectives. Review and manage all vendor/supplier proposals, evaluating available competitive information, and selection of best alternatives.

•	Daily replenishment of inventory and order expediting to achieve specific service level and inventory turns objectives.
•	Provide weekly, bi-weekly and monthly promotional suggestions and planners to support events and advertising for our major customers.  Select products to be featured that will generate the greatest sales and profits.
•	Successfully negotiate with vendors to maximize promotional support for ads and merchandising events.
•	Achieve specific profit margins related to price changes, forward buys, new item introductions, cost brackets, etc.
•	Inventory management to ensure specific annual turns, product freshness and minimal out of stocks.
•	Evaluate vendors for maximum profitability and service performance.  Effectively negotiate changes to increase performance.
•	Perform category and vendor reviews based on a preset schedule and when new items are considered.  Capable of making factual and persuasive presentations in a group setting.
•	Regular communication with Sales, Warehouse and Transportation departments to ensure product and merchandising plans are understood and executed to meet common goals.
•	Continual evaluation of new items and sources that will offer our accounts a competitive advantage.
•	Handles maintenance of an up-to-date filing system on products, pricing and vendors to ensure immediate and accurate access to information.
•	Maintain a thorough knowledge of assigned products, categories and vendors.  Keeps up to date on market trends and customer demographics.

Buyer & Merchandiser

•	Managed inventory levels for 22 factories in Asia, South and Central America. 
•	Analyzed buying needs based on customer purchase trends and special promotions for over 100 customers including major retailers such as Wal-Mart, Target, Macy’s, and Sam’s Club to name a few. 
•	Responsible for all aspects of purchasing process such as identifying need, writing orders, approving final samples and artworks, and delivery of goods in a timely manner. 
•	Work closely with graphic designer and sourcing team on product innovation and packaging design.
•	Identified slow moving, excess, and discontinued product to ensure sell thru to optimize sales and reduce markdowns. 
•	Managed supplier negotiation of defectives and claims and worked with sourcing department to identify and fix quality control issues to reduce customer complaints.
•	Liaison between the sales and buying team as the point person for all master distributor communication regarding product new product lines, order processing and tracking, and product merchandising.
•	Responsible for the overall inventory maintenance and reconciliation between 3 warehouses and made transfer recommendations based on inventory needs.
•	Worked closely with accounting department to ensure supplier accounts are in good standing.
•	Managed several reports that track and identify monthly sales used by many departments to report financial state of different accounts to upper management. 
•	Work closely with warehousing staff to schedule container deliveries based on current supply and urgency. 
•	Keep constant communication with freight forwarders to ensure accuracy with ETA’s and timely deliveries.
