When I was the Creative Marketing Manager for American Gothic Press, I did much more than just social media and e-mail campaigns. The parent company, Famous Monsters of Filmland, are involved with much more than just the iconic monster magazine, and I had a hand in every venture. I helped with creating trailers for our comic book titles, edited podcasts for both companies, helped decide what went into our monthly mystery boxes (“Shock Box”), eCommerce for the online store, convention and film festival planning (The Silver Scream Film & Comic Festival), and much more.
As Arts & Entertainment Editor for the Sonoma State STAR in college, I would not only assign stories to my writers every week, but I personally would write one or two articles for my own section of the newspaper, and any other sections who needed an article that week as well.
I was also the Online Editor of the STAR, uploading the stories from the paper online every week. With the Online Editor position, I not only would write or assign online exclusive articles, but I would constantly update the website and social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) every day, getting people to visit the website or retweet/share links to the articles on every platform.
Before I was an editor, I was a comic book reviewer, interviewer and content contributor to websites such as Bleeding Cool, Brightest Young Things, and IHEARTCOMIX, working with editors and crafting article ideas. I had an annual column for two years, Countdown to the Eisners with Cameron Hatheway, where I would give my picks of what creator/comic would win in the weeks leading up to the Eisner Awards at Comic-Con (the Academy Awards of comic books). Lots of reading and research was done for each category.
I’ve also been published in two graphic novels as both interviewer and copy editor. In the Tetsupendium Tawarapedia from Hollow Press, I wrote the foreword as well as helped copy edit the afterword between the editor and artist. In The Untamed: A Sinner’s Prayer from Stranger Comics, I interviewed the writer and illustrator for the afterword. I’ve also had articles published in Bleeding Cool Magazine #16-18, and Famous Monsters of Filmland #284.
Articles are available for your review at my website CammysComicCorner.com, but here are a few I’m particularly proud of:

• Exclusive interview with author Piper Kerman (Sonoma State STAR)
• Daft Punk get lucky with ‘Random Access Memories’ (Sonoma State STAR)
• Sculpting An Exclusive Interview With Scott McCloud About His New Graphic Novel (Bleeding Cool)
