Adventure Local is a startup aimed to connect travelers with locals from around the world who have something unique they want to offer. Whether it's a local Fijian who wants to take you surfing in Tavarua, or an ice climber in the Swiss Alps, Advlo creates jobs for locals by allowing them to market their skills, while providing travelers with once in a lifetime opportunities.

My major responsibilities include customer acquisition, customer service, content curation and social media management.

Mykonos Catamaran is a luxury charter catamaran based in Mykonos, Greece. During my 1.5 year, 15 country backpacking trip, I was offered a position to be the sole chef and deckhand onboard a Kennex 445. Having never cooked Greek food in my life, I departed for Greece. Though I only received a 30 minute crash course on the dishes I'd be serving, I ended the season with a 100% customer satisfaction rating on food, customer service and overall experience. I do consider this a "travel job", but regardless I am proud to have helped make Captain Michael's first season a true success. After creating and managing his social media and Trip Advisor pages, he increased bookings from around 40% to almost 100% during his second season.

My responsibilities on the boat included preparing a nine course meal from scratch in two hours, all deck hand and hostess jobs, various maintenance tasks and food and beverage inventory management.

Chef and First Mate

After graduating from Penn State in 2012, I joined the corporate procurement team at Bechtel. I handled all eAuctions companywide, which involved training participants around the world, tracking savings during the auction process, providing a full savings report and awarding the winner. I was also in charge of ordering award plaques for the companywide Bechtel Certification Program. When I moved to the Dulles Metro Extension project, I managed several multi-million dollar subcontracts, expedited purchases, tracked inventory and made on-site quality control visits.

Procurement Specialist

During the summer between junior and senior year of college, I was hired as the purchasing and inventory management intern for Aramark at the McKinley Chalet Resort in Denali, Alaska. My time was split between the office and warehouse. I was in charge of all beer, wine and liquor purchases, as well as various other hotel supplies. I supervised monthly inventories in the warehouse, as well as across the hotel's six restaurant locations. To improve the accuracy of our inventory management, I implemented PRIMA, Aramark's new MRP software. Using digital PDA's, we were able to more accurately track inventory and greatly reduce the time it took to complete monthly inventories.
