Human Resources Generalist

Beginning in 2010 with the Department of Veterans Affairs, I started on my journey in human resources as an assistant. I was a benefits specialist, coding specialist, and conducted the human resources new employee orientation. I furthered my career in 2013 when I was offered a position as a specialist with US Citizenship and Immigration Services in Laguna Niguel, CA, where I was responsible for general oversight of human resources activities at the California Service Center. I then received an opportunity at Premera Blue Cross as a talent acquisition coordinator, where I learned the specifics of recruitment coordination. I was then promoted to my current level, where I am the primary point of contact for all human resource related questions and concerns for all 2500 employees.

•	Handles intake of associate, family members, managers, former associates, candidate and/or potential vendor questions via phone, email, in-person, or intranet site 
•	Develops in-depth understanding of individual’s needs, making any required follow-up steps and conducting additional research
•	Provides accurate, consistent, and timely responses to HR processes, system, and policy requests and inquiries 
•	Maintains contact and follow-up throughout inquiry resolution 
•	Partners with appropriate subject matter expert to assist in answering inquiry accurately and in-depth
•	Maintains tracking system to provide accurate reporting on monthly basis
•	Through analysis of tracking system identifies communication opportunities 
•	Management of communication projects
Talent Acquisition Coordinator
•	Coordinates ad placements, tracks costs, and maintains sourcing records 
•	Researches viable candidates; screens resumes                                                           for experience & qualifications
•	Coordinates and helps prepare for job fairs 
•	Schedules interviews for candidates, coordinates 
campus visits (i.e. travel) & tracks costs. 
•	Completes offer letters 
•	Manages applicant tracking system in PeopleSoft (posts offers, manages applicant profile, update information)
•	Initiates the background check process 
•	Initiates the Conflict of Interest survey
•	Point of contact for RIF reporting and data 
•	Input standing desk accommodation information into HR Acuity

•	Use customer service skills to solve customer inquiries in regards to pay, benefits, staffing, HIPAA, EEOC, ERISA, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and COBRA timely and accurately. 
•	Maintain staffing and personnel file records for nearly 1000 employees.  
•	Assist employees with completing forms such as employment forms and/or benefit forms. 
•	Coordinate and deliver federal employee benefits training during the New Employee Orientation. 
•	Develop Local Operating Instructions to provide guidance on office procedures and systems. 
•	Act as a Performance Management Subject Matter Expert and point of contact ensuring nearly 1000 appraisals are collected and within specified guidelines. 
•	Collect and analyze data from a variety of systems and collection methods to generate accurate reports for management. 
•	Coordinate and schedule entry on duty dates for all new employees.
•	Coordinate and schedule release dates and exit clearance appointments for employees transferring to other offices. 
•	Create and manage full cycle recruitment and staffing functions. 
•	Review and advice management on the candidate selection process, recruit for positions, and perform hiring actions to fill vacant positions. 
•	Work with management to identify and select qualified candidates, process certificates of eligible candidates and new employees entering on duty. 
•	Prepare personnel actions through HRIS systems for promotions, reassignments, position classifications, details, and resignations. 
•	Make pay determinations and assist with pay and compensation matters. 
•	Act as a point of contact between employee and the Department of Labor for worker’s compensation (OWCP) injury claims.

Human Resources Operations Support Specialist

Human Resource Assistant 
•	Assisted employees in completing HR paperwork. 
•	Acted as point of contact for the VA work-study program. 
•	Processed all employee performance and monetary awards.
•	Assisted employees upon separation with the appropriate benefit and miscellaneous unemployment information.
•	Assisted separated employees with temporary continuation of coverage of health benefits (COBRA).
•	Reviewed and determined eligibility of Voluntary Leave Transfer Program requests based on appropriate documentation as required by policy.
•	Used national systems, databases, and other methods to analyze, sort, and consolidate data to generate reports.

Human Resources Assistant

•	Coordinated live training events for a unit of over 70 Marines. 
•	Developed and maintained a record system for completion of training by all Marines in unit. 
•	Tracked all mandatory training requirements for unit. 
•	Conducted paper-based, verbal, and hands-on testing of all Weapons and Tactics training modules. 
•	Ensured that the Weapons and Tactics training module is up-to-date.
