Freelance Art Director

Jim has 15 years of design and creative experience, with my his most recent focus in the Toy Industry working directly with global licensors as Creative Director of a licensed manufacturer. He ensured quality and innovation in the design and development of products, packaging and strategic marketing material for global brands such as NERF, Super Soaker, Marvel Super Hero Squad, My Little Pony, Equestria Girls, Littlest Pet Shop, and Play-Doh.

Design, R&D and overseeing production were just a few responsibilities in his role as Creative Director. He maintained constant communication with executives and sales teams to identify current industry trends to conceptualize new products and product lines, organized and art directed photoshoots, analyzed retail space to understand and develop strong consumer experiences. He fostered the relationships with Hong Kong teams and factory engineers to maintain cost margins, testing requirements and quality control. 

He is a great team player, able to lead creative teams, and enjoy the hands on work to meet deadlines in a fast pace environment. He is committed to developing innovative and creative products and designs for the consumer while being inclusive of retail and company budgetary requirements.

• Maintained strict quality control and achieved cost effective products to meet company required margins.
• Maintained constant communication with Hong Kong team and biyearly trips to factories for QA/QC.
• Designed, created and set up impactful showroom planograms and displays for toys shows in: Dallas, New York, Nuremberg, and Hong Kong.

- Designed and supervised artwork for DVD and Blu-Ray packaging, Key Art, magazine ads, posters, bus shelters, billboards, copywriting and marketing collateral for major motion picture releases.
- Helped to expand design department into brands outside of entertainment to include independent film festivals, sports, motorsports, and musicals.
- Art Directed photoshoots.

Art Director

- Designed artwork for DVD and Blu-Ray packaging
- Created concepts and designs for special limited release movie packaging.
- Designed Key Art for major motion picture releases.
- Developed corporate brand identities

• Created concept designs for DVD Packaging for major motion pictures and television shows.
• Designed marketing collateral such as magazine ads, posters, bus shelters, billboards, as well as various in-store point of purchase displays.
• Art direction of final artwork for print production
• Organized and maintained International Style Guides.
