San Diego native Chris Toombs is a jack of all trades. Graphic designer by day and craftsman by night, he spends evenings and weekends exploring the tactile side of design, trying out new techniques in his search to marry message to medium. Chris spent his formative years surfing and swimming, and both remain passions today. He regularly commutes to work by bicycle and enjoys spending time with his wife, Monica, and his baby girl, Betsy.

An inspiring three year run developing branding and advertising for brands such as Harrah's SoCal, Qualcomm, San Diego Humane Society, and Scripps Health.

My main gig with TOMS Shoes was Style Your Sole Artist. I have also worked on special projects such as the TOMS Give events, custom shoes for Blake Mycoskie the owner of TOMS, and window display design and install.

Inscriptu Inc. is a jack of all trades production housing with a laser cutter, rotary engraver, plotter, solvent ink printer, direct to garment printer and sublimation equipment. As a production artist I ran all the machines and organized projects on a daily basis. As the in house designer I designed many small scale print applications such as business cards and awards. I also helped with customer service often explaining our capabilities to clients and students.

I did typical intern work, type setting, assembling sample books, filling orders. All of these things were done with a smile in trade for learning about the letterpress process, ink and paper.
