James has nearly two decades of experience in the Outdoor Industry, starting with an impressionable youth as a bike shop rat, working in the front lines of retail and later entered the manufacturing side of the industry and, subsequently, as an independent contractor representing over 70 brands. He flexed his entrepreneurial muscle by co-founding Embrocation Cycling Journal, where he served as managing partner and editor-in-chief.

With a formal education in writing and critical reasoning, James specializes in brand and product communications, which is just a fancy way of saying he likes analyzing brands and the products they bring to market. When not doing this, James dabbles in bicycle racing, farming, and nearly every aquatic sport invented.
