Wholesale Buyer/Manager and Business Assistant

•	Examine, select, order, and purchase the most favorable merchandise consistent with quality, quantity, and specification requirements; analyze and monitor sales records, trends, and economic conditions to anticipate consumer buying patterns.
•	Organize meetings with top company representatives, negotiate contracts and terms; cultivate and maintain professional relationships with representatives; continually building and maintaining new business relationships, keeping up to date with economic conditions and style trends. 
•	Brand management and development, design assistance, business plan & sales strategy development, event planning, marketing, database management.
•	Social media marketing and planning, community involvement and marketing.
•	Created charity program with CEPIA Costa Rica – send donations and surf gear to CEPIA which is a program that supports local children through tutoring, education, after-school programs, and surf lessons.  Helped organize fundraising for local

•	Spent two months in Jaco, Costa Rica improving my surfing skills.  I immersed myself in the local culture there and made many friends while abroad.  I surfed every day, some days two or three times and greatly improved my skill.  
•	I learned much from my time spent there about myself, the world, and culture.  While abroad, I interacted with different customs, experienced language barriers and improved my communication skills; increased my understanding of Spanish; volunteered teaching surf lessons to children; planted trees on different beaches with the Costas Verdes program; challenged myself in tricky wave conditions; achieved goals set for myself both mentally and physically; drastically increased my knowledge of the ocean, waves, surfing breaks, and water conditions; spent countless days immersed in nature and the sea; and improved my budgeting and planning skills.  It was an experience that I wouldn’t trade for the world. 


International Travel

•	Conducted ethnographic research on Pacific Coast of Costa Rica concerning the recent surge of rapid development of coastal cities due to tourism.  			
•	Examined and researched the impacts of coastal development and tourism on the country; examined different perspectives on both development and tourism, traveled throughout the coast to view impacts first-hand. 
•	Developed a thesis, completed a research paper, project, and presentation on surf tourism as a modern form of neocolonialism.


Student Research

•	Worked directly with Martha Honey conducting research dedicated to ecotourism and the promotion of the positive global impact of sustainable tourism.  CREST assists governments, policy makers, tourism businesses, nonprofit organizations, and international agencies in finding solutions to the critical issues surrounding tourism.  CREST supports eco-friendly tourism and the connection between and spread of knowledge of different cultures.
•	Participated in conference calls, project research, fund-raising, marketing, social-media planning and marketing, information organization, and circulating company research.
