I've had the good fortune to work at a job I just loved, that of being a buyer in a retail apparel specialty store. I directly bought or managed the purchase of men's and women's apparel, accessories, and some hardlines. The specialty store had 35+ classifications and on average worked with over 100 vendors, sometimes approaching 150 vendors. the retail space was 9,000 square feet with additional space for storage and offices. The peak volume was $2.2 million. I worked with and managed an OTB, vendor analysis, classification analysis, trend analysis, markdowns, maintained markup, and inventory turns. I've attended trade shows in Las Vegas, Chicago, New York, and local regional shows. In addition I directly managed 1-2 assistant buyers. Developed and managed exclusive products for the business. Also worked on the floor selling customers, managed store marketing, merchandising, HR.
