I am a motivated Mechanical Engineer with over three years of experience in the automotive and optical engineering industry.  

While at the University of Arizona, I was the Mechanical Engineering lead on my Senior Design Project.  We designed, built, and tested a thermal sensor system for a fixed wing UAV that monitored the local power company's transmission lines.  After two years of part time work at Arete Associates while completing my undergraduate degree at the University of Arizona, I continued working full time gaining valuable design and lab experience.  Projects consisted of building and inspecting optical assemblies, cable drawing design, test fixture design, 3-D printing, and build assembly scheduling. While working there, I consulted with a local start-up, New Guilds, LLC, helping the lead product designer analyze drawings and communicate with the overseas manufacturers.  

Currently, I am pursuing a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA with an expected graduation date of December 2018.  For my thesis, I am studying the thermal effect of aerogel on corrugated composite structures.  I was selected to present my research at CAMX, a leading composites and materials conference, in Dallas this October.  I am currently looking to bring my job experience and academic success into a technical job opportunity in the materials and structures, thermal, and test engineering fields with an emphasis on sustainable goods and resources.

- Collaborated with engineers to acquire car, set up and calibrate Portable Emissions Measurement Systems (PEMS) equipment, conduct PEMS test, and post-process PEMS and INCA data. 
- Confirmed sufficient calibration and operation of PEMS equipment by managing entire fleet.  Trained other employees in PEMS Operations.
- Planned test driving routes with test engineers to provide settings to effectively measure emissions in real-world conditions.
- Ensured cars passed US Federal and California Emissions standards by creating report with processed emissions and engine data.
- Performed validation tests on dynamometer to compare PEMS data to CVS data.
- Assisted powertrain engineers with various tests, such as hesitation testing.  Worked in team to reverse-engineer Tesla Model S battery cooling system.


Emissions Lab Intern

- Consulted with New Guilds, LLC, a local start-up that designs wood shop safety components.  While working part-time for a year, my main roles were:
- Ensured component drawings had correct tolerances, dimensions, and finishes by working with lead designer and overseas manufacturers.
- Designed packaging with lead designer for their table saw safety system.  

Mechanical Engineer

- Streamlined testing procedure of electro-optical systems by designing, 3-D printing, and machining a locking fixture to ensure consistent electronic connections throughout testing.
- Designed a 3-D printed interchangeable slit window for a R&D LIDAR system.  Slit window was mounted to a carbon fiber frame and was made with adjustable widths to account for various laser beam diameters.
- Ensured electro-optical systems were delivered to customer on time by building mechanical, optical, and electrical subassemblies in lab.
- Optimized optical, electrical component performance by working with engineering team in field and lab.  Assisted in drafting field test plans and procedures for optical and electrical components.
- Ensured electro-optical systems passed company and customer-set requirements by testing them in lab. 
- Prevented slippage and secured system delivery date to customer by outlining subassembly build schedule with project manager and subsystem leads.
