Rana Ghiassi

Summary

AS AN IRANIAN-AMERICAN IMMIGRANT, HAVING MOVED TO AMERICA AT THE YOUNG AGE OF 12, RANA CONSTANTLY STRUGGLED WITH HER IDENTITY. SHE BARELY SPOKE ENGLISH, AND SINCE COMMUNICATION IS THE CORE OF EVERY CULTURE, SHE FELT DIVIDED BETWEEN THE TEACHINGS OF HER HOMELAND AND AN AMERICANIZED REALITY. SOON AFTER HIGH SCHOOL, IN THE AWKWARDLY INDECISIVE STAGES OF PICKING ONE'S CAREER, RANA DECIDED TO BECOME HONEST WITH HERSELF AND DIVE DEEP INTO HER TRUE YET TERRIFYING PASSIONS-- THE ARTS.

IN COLLEGE, RANA RECEIVED A BACHELORS DEGREE IN CINEMA & TELEVISION ARTS FROM CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY FULLERTON MINORING IN SCREENWRITING. SOON AFTER, SHE CONTINUED HER STUDIES AT UCLA AND COMPLETED A MASTERS DEGREE IN TELEVISION WRITING.

FROM INDEPENDENTLY DIRECTING, WRITING, AND PRODUCING FILMS, TO STYLING AND MAKING ARTISTIC DECISIONS ON FASHION SHOOTS-- SHE WAS UNSTOPPABLE IN ALL THINGS CREATIVE.

CURRENTLY, SHE IS IN THE PROCESS OF ESTABLISHING HER OWN PRODUCTION COMPANY CALLED "FREE95" WHERE SHE WORKS CLOSELY WITH HER CREW TO CREATE FILMS THAT ARE INDEPENDENTLY MADE AND ENTIRELY SELF-PRODUCED.
